Gatsby & The 20's

Have you heard of the latest movie in town which stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan?
It's The Great Gatsby!

It brings back the heat of the 1920's fashion back again! The movie, adapted from the novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, was set in the year 1922. It tells us the story, narrated by a Wall Street worker about the mysterious secret & identity of his neighbour. All he know is his name....Gatsby. Jay Gatsby.

Well, I leave the rest of the story for you to find out at the theatres. ;O)

Here are some photos of the book, characters and fashion in the 20's that I have picked from here and there on the internet. In those times, modern girls in the city used to cut their hair short. "Bob" hairstyle they called it. And that's the start of girls wearing short skirts too. No more heavy and huge-floor-sweeping-gowns like those you saw in "Titanic".

Life Goes On. Keep Praying. God Listens.

My blog has been idled for 3 weeks. Mind filled with anxiety, fear & worries. Wondering what might happen in the future to the land that I've been living for 25 years. Will the citizens of this land continues to be restless? Not because of the endless exciting events happening in the city that never sleeps, just like how it used to be, but because of the arrival of the Sulu gunmen, who had invaded our land on 12th Feb 2013 at 1:37am in Lahad Datu. They want Sabah. They claimed Sabah is their land!

Nowadays, when the sun sets, the streets will be empty. Malls and restaurants will be empty. Only the lonely moon & streetlights be the only ones who stares at the emptiness of the city, listening to the whistling breeze. People went home early to be with their loved ones to make sure they are alright. Even in non-affected areas like the westcoast of Sabah, people are taking extra caution, just in-case any unwanted incidents that might happen. So, people stocked up food, petrols & other basic needs. Supermarket "rice section" - All you can see are empty racks.

I know this is a fashion blog. But something that has been stucked in my mind for a month must be scrapped out. I'm not good in talking. So I decided to write about it. Oh Lord, I pray that these gunmen will stop the fighting. This isn't the way to deal with it! As of today, 16th Mar 2013, a total of 71 people were reported killed, including 61 Filipino militants, eight Malaysian policemen, one Malaysian soldier, and a teenage boy of unknown nationality. How many more lives do we or they have to sacrifice?

This is not a simple case to be solved. If not careful, things like this "might" happened again. No one knows when the fighting will stop. The government has to think of a long-term solution to this. May God give them wisdom in dealing with this matter without anymore bloodshed.

Friends, we might not be able to help to stop the situation, but let us continue to live in unity, keep praying & trust in the Lord for only He alone can make things right. Only He alone can remove the fear in us. And only He can move the mountains & calm the raging sea.

Amen.
